Did you know??

Did you know that your core, or stomach, is the most important muscle when it comes to tumbling and jumping?? If you have weak stomach muscles, you will find it hard to make your body do what it needs to do to have strong tumbling skills and pretty jumps!! Here are some exercises for you to do at home to strengthen your core. Remember...a little bit of effort makes HUGE differences in your skills!

  • Crunches~ Do 3 sets of 25 crunches a day making sure your focal point is up to the ceiling and that only your shoulder blades lift off of the floor.

  • Planks~ Lay face down on the floor. Prop yourself up in a flat position using only your elbows and your toes. Hold this flat position for 30 seconds then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat to a total of 3 times.

  • Leg Lifts~ Hold on to something like the top of a kitchen chair or something of that height with on hand to the side. Steadily lift left leg level to your waist and then control it back down and repeat 10 times. Then turn and repeat on the right side. This builds core and hip flexers which are important in jumps!

  • Throw Downs~ Lay on your back and have a partner stand above you, facing your feet, putting your head between their feet. Grap onto their ankles for support and lift both of your feet up to them. Have your partner throw down your feet to the ground but you stop them at the very bottom so that they do not touch the ground. Your partner can also throw them over to the left and right so that it works our obliques.

Have a great week working your core :)
